On 04/01, at approximately 1PM, there was an armed robbery of the MS&K Confectionary store at 745 Prospect St in Maplewood, NJ. A male suspect entered the variety store, produced a handgun and demanded the store keeper open the register. Shortly thereafter, a struggle ensued and the storekeeper was shot once in the torso. The actor then fled the store on foot. The actor is now believed to be a medium to light skinned African American or Hispanic male. It is believed that he is heavy set, possibly with a muscular build, wearing either a mustache or goatee and between 6’ and 6’3” tall. It is also believed that the male is in his late 30’s or 40’s. The Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura has approved a Crimestoppers reward offer “up to $2,500” for details that lead to an arrest.

                                           




The Maplewood Police Department will be taking part in the Click it or Ticket Campaign.


 The May 2013 Click It or Ticket Mobilization will play a critical role in the effort to keep people safe on our nation’s roads and highways. From May 20 - June 2, 2013 law enforcement agencies in New Jersey and nationwide will conduct Click It or Ticket campaigns that incorporated zero-tolerance enforcement of safety belt laws with paid advertising and the support of government agencies, local coalitions and school officials to increase safety belt use and defend against one of the greatest threats to us all - serious injury or death in traffic crashes
