“FUTURE POLICE” ACADEMY 2008
The Maplewood Police Dept. is presenting its third
year of the “FUTURE POLICE” ACADEMY. Session one will run from July
7th through July 11th. Session two will run
from July 21st through July 25th. This program is open to
girls and boys ages 11 through 16. Class size is limited to 25
participants per session. Instruction will begin at 9:00am and end
at 2:00pm. T Shirts, baseball caps and lunch will be provided.
The mission of the Future Police Academy is to provide an opportunity for
the youth of Maplewood to learn about the field
of law enforcement, citizenship, and community through hands on
activities and practical instruction focusing on traditional and
current policing methods and training. Participants will learn the
importance of teamwork and personal responsibility as it applies to
building a strong community.
The Future Police Academy will allow the
participants to gain an understanding of the diverse role of today’s
police officer. Participants will undergo training in the areas of
criminal street patrol, crime scene investigation, trial and
courtroom procedures, physical training, and drill and ceremony. All
aspects of training will combine classroom instruction,
demonstrations, and practical application by the participant and
their partner; under the supervision of academy staff. Special
demonstrations will include K-9 and a demonstration by the New
Jersey State Police Aviation Unit.
There is a $25.00 fee to participate in this program.
Enrollment is limited to 25 participants per class. Applications may be picked up
at the Maplewood Police Dept located at 1618 Springfield
Ave starting March 26th 2008.

Applications accepted on a first come, first served basis.
Applications are to be returned to the Maplewood Police Dept by May

Future Police
Academy 2007
The Maplewood
Police Department held its second year of the Future Police Academy,
from July 30th thru August 3rd for boys and girls ages 11-14.
Instruction began at 9 AM and ended at 2 PM. T-shirts, baseball caps
and lunch were provided.
The mission of the Future
Police Academy is to provide an opportunity for the youth of
